Admitted to practice law in the state of Florida, Gian-Franco Melendez is a Tampa Bay area native with a passion for serving his community and those who live and work there. After graduating from Tampa Jesuit High School, Mr. Melendez received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Knowing he wanted to serve the Tampa Bay community, Mr. Melendez then attended Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida.
While attending law school, Gian-Franco Melendez served as the Vice-President of the Stetson Hispanic Bar Association. He was also a legal intern in the immigration unit at Gulfcoast Legal Services, worked as a law clerk for Ron R. Wolfe and Associates, dealt with foreclosure and bankruptcy matters, and assisted military veterans in receiving their disability benefits as a part of Stetson’s Veterans’ Advocacy Clinic. Mr. Melendez also served as a legal intern for the Honorable Virginia Hernandez Covington, a United States federal judge.
After graduating from law school, Gian-Franco Melendez practiced in workers’ compensation and employment defense until he decided to dedicate his legal career to helping those who need it the most, in particular the immigrant community. Thereafter, Mr. Melendez opened his own law practice in Historic Hyde Park and utilized his prior experiences to obtain successful outcomes for his clients. Gian-Franco Melendez is completely fluent in Spanish. He serves as the Co-Chair for the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Solo Practitioner & Small Firm Section and as the Treasurer for the Pinellas Latin Bar Association. He is a proud member of the Tampa Hispanic Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the St. Petersburg Bar Association, and the Tampa Jesuit Bar Association.
Possessing a range of experience in various areas of the law, Gian-Franco Melendez has learned how to identify and implement the most effective strategies to best serve his clients, no matter what their particular concerns may be.
